Slovak Design Award Catalogue

book design
The catalogue for the National Design Award 2024—Communication Design was created in collaboration with the Slovak Design Center as part of the overarching visual identity of the competition. The publication presents the curatorial selection of all 144 exhibited projects, offering a comprehensive overview of communication design in Slovakia during 2023–2024.
The layout builds directly on the visual identity concept, which draws from the principle of letterpress block composition—a modular system inspired by the tools of traditional printing techniques. We translated this method into the digital environment, where it became the foundation of the book’s structure. Rather than applying a single template, each project is given room for its own visual rhythm. The modularity of “assembling” the layouts allowed us to tell the visual story of each work clearly while maintaining a cohesive character throughout the entire catalogue.
Material choices played a key role in shaping the publication. Thanks to the partnership with Antalis and the DIW print, we were able to work with a high-quality silver paper for the cover, naturally complementing the visual identity of the edition. The book block is printed on a subtle white paper that preserves the color accuracy of the photographs and lets each project stand out.
