Our task was to design a book documenting wedding halls built in Slovakia during the socialist era. The publication was created in collaboration with art historian Sabina Jankovičová and the civic association Čierne diery, which has long been dedicated to promoting Slovak architecture and industrial heritage.

In the designing process, we drew inspiration from the wedding ceremony itself and the visual language of the bride. The folded cover works like a veil—gently opening and revealing what lies beneath. This motif of the book as a bride extends through the choice of materials and printing techniques. Inside, we focused on the rhythm of turning pages and the transparency of layers, evoking a quiet, ceremonial experience of reading. We used papers translucent qualities that create visual overlays and subtle transitions—texts meet images, and sections merge seamlessly. Our goal was for reading to feel like a silent visual ritual.

The book was printed using six colors—standard CMYK complemented by powder pink and metallic Pantone. The cover is printed with UV varnish, and the chosen paper has a deliberately soft, almost textile-like texture, enhancing the book’s tactile, ceremonial quality.
